Ryzen 5 9600X with RTX 4090: Bottleneck & FPS

The Ryzen 5 9600X and RTX 4090 pair well, with the graphics card setting the pace at 4K: about 97 FPS on average in AAA games at High settings, with 1% lows around 76 FPS. At 1080p the Ryzen 5 9600X becomes the limit (36% CPU bottleneck at 1080p); from 1440p upward the RTX 4090 takes over and the CPU has capacity to spare. In esports titles such as CS2 or Valorant expect around 305 FPS, enough for a 240 Hz monitor, while CPU-heavy games like Microsoft Flight Simulator drop to about 81 FPS with a 33% CPU bottleneck. With ray tracing enabled, expect about 56 FPS at 4K, so turn on DLSS or FSR to get back above 60.
