Ryzen 7 7700X with RTX 4090: Bottleneck & FPS

The Ryzen 7 7700X and RTX 4090 pair well, with the graphics card setting the pace at 4K: about 97 FPS on average in AAA games at High settings, with 1% lows around 75 FPS. At 1080p and 1440p the Ryzen 7 7700X becomes the limit (37% CPU bottleneck at 1080p); from UW 1440p upward the RTX 4090 takes over and the CPU has capacity to spare. In esports titles such as CS2 or Valorant expect around 303 FPS, enough for a 240 Hz monitor, while CPU-heavy games like Microsoft Flight Simulator drop to about 79 FPS with a 35% CPU bottleneck. With ray tracing enabled, expect about 56 FPS at 4K, so turn on DLSS or FSR to get back above 60.
